Jacob & Silas Birthday Bash!

We had a double birthday party for Jacob & Silas today from 5:30 til 7:30. The theme of the party was "planes, trains, and automobiles" and Mike & Kellie gave both children one of each kind. Check out the cake, too, as it follows the theme. Also, see Jacob below obligatorily looking up for the picture when he'd rather be examining his spy plane. Jacob also got a keyboard and an .mp3 player (which I had already loaded up with his favorite songs, including the Raconteurs' "Steady as She Goes"). In the picture with everyone looking up, they were excited about the balloons. I missed that moment. Yummy salmon pasta, Trader Joe's pizza, and champagne were also featured at the party. Jessica and Boette, and Bob and Martha (seen in a picture below; Kellie's parents) were also in attendance. The highlight of the night, before the presents and the cake, was the boys running toy dump trucks back and forth the length of the house. It was very loud, since one of Jake's trucks is an "outside toy," according to his Aunt Brenda. During the present opening, Jacob would tear open one present, look at it briefly, and throw it aside, saying "more presents." If one wasn't quickly handed to him he would repeat his command "more presents" with a little more urgency and insistence. Jacob was also in heaven as he ate three pieces of his birthday cake, although it was interesting to see that he didn't like the "control tower" part of the cake as much as the lower part, I think because there was too much icing there. It makes me shiver just to think about all that icing. Anyway, let me know what you think or ask questions if you want more info on the party.

Jacob and Kathy at Pamela's

Jacob and I met an old friend (a former student of mine) and his fiance for breakfast at Pamela's the day after we got back from our trip to Seattle. We missed Josh, but we were proud of him for working so hard around the New Year (including a double shift on New Year's Day!).
