Jacob's New School Starting September 10th

Jacob starts kindergarden, officially, at Linden Elementary School, on September 10th. At his current school/day care, the Cyert Center, his teacher Andrea had Jacob draw and paint his new school today. Here's what Jacob said when Andrea, interviewed him about his picture: "It's my new school and here's some windows where the teachers can see. I think I might have computers in my new school but I think I'm not old enough to use them. There's smoke because it's a chimney. Those are steps: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven steps. I'll have to make new friends----talk to them and say, "Hey, wanna be my friend?" I'm a hundred million super duper concentrated on this."

The Tooth Fairy is Going Broke!

Well, the Tooth Fairy is going to need to tighten her belt if Jacob loses any more teeth! He called mom and dad from school today to announce the news. Casey kept shouting: his mouth looks red! His mouth looks red! Fortunately Jacob has a new ATM bank to keep his precious Tooth Fairy moola!

Infinity, or Something Better?

Jacob feels certain that there IS a biggest number, and that it is not infinity. So now instead of infinity he says "until the end of the numbers." The other day when I was turning the sprinkler on for Jacob he said "I love you until the end of the numbers." I thought it was one of the most beautiful things anyone had ever said to me! Everyday Events near Nana and Papa's House

We try to take Jacob and Casey to the beach in front of Nana and Papa's house every day. I got these cutie snaps of Casey during our second week out here on a day when Jacob went to Seattle with Nana to play with Zarni. We also go to the little airport here and eat lunch at the Spruce Goose Cafe. We can watch the planes land and take off as we eat! They Spruce Goose makes great French Dip sandwhichs, fries and Veggie Burgers!

Brenda Plans Elaborate Pirate Play!

Brenda and Zarni planned some cool pirate play for the cousins. This included Burton's tall daughter, Becca, Jacob, Casey and Zarni. Brenda got wooden swords for the kids, which they painted themselves, and we used scarves from Nana's closet and costume jewelry. Brenda made a list of rules for the "cousin clan," since we were about to set them loose with wooden swords! Jacob really got into the pirate role, as you can see from the picture! There were a few cousin clan tears when the sword play got too rough, but mostly the kids had a blast playing pirate!

Digging for Clams (and Eating them, too)

Jacob absolutely loves to dig clams. Larry usually drives a big gang down to the beach, equipping everyone with a shovel, some sunscreen, and some beach shoes. They have to go when the tide is really low. Jacob is one of the best diggers! In these pics Becca shows off her clam bounty---which is cooked in a delicious wine/herb broth and served with fresh linguine!
