Planting Herbs at the Cyert Center

On June 7th I (Josh) helped the young toddler classroom plant a garden of herbs for them to sniff! We planted Rosemary, Basil, Sage, and Lemon Balm. It was a bit of a battle between the adults and the children. We had to keep them from tearing the leaves off all of the plants, keep them from knocking over the bags of dirt (Jacob managed to topple one), and keep them from shoveling dirt from the pots back into the bags. There were some good moments, however. It was satisfying when I finally got Jacob to sniff his fingers after rubbing sage leaves between them. He was surprised that there was any good reason to sniff his fingers.
