Talking Turkey

A few weeks ago we drove out to a turkey farm in order to take some pictures for the calendar. I also thought the kids might be grossed out by what Josh called the "turkey concentration camp." The worst part was the smell---I won't describe it in detail, but you can imagine that 1800 turkeys all crapping in one place was pretty rank. The biggest surprise was that the turkeys were white, and that female turkeys had pink heads and male turkeys had blue heads! At the end of the tour we bought some meat. So, yeah, I guess my hope that my family would be turned off by the turkey farm kind of back fired!

Yeah, if all us meat lovers spent a day on the "farm" (concentration camp) we might think twice about biting into that big fat turkey leg. Guess you need more meat farm visits! lol P.S. With Cullman County being the "chicken farm" capitol of the state, I know exactly how those farms smell. Not pretty.

When Natalie was little we used to walk by a school that had some small animals in pens by the fence. The male turkeys were always puffing themselves up -- very funny but probably a big turn on for the hens. I thought you were going to make them pick out their T-giving turkey like Latinos have kids pick out birthday goats for their birthday birria.
