Casey's First Haircut!

So in this picture series we start with a "before" picture where you can clearly see that Casey's bangs are in her eyes. I (her mother) cut her bangs once when she was about 9 months old, and then when she was about one she had a mini-quick trim from Jacob's barber in Nashville. But once we returned to Pittsburgh we were ready to take Casey to the zen goddess of childrens' haircutters: ROSE. Rose has a station filled with the coolest toys our children had ever seen. They both played blissfully while we waited for Rose to finish with her client before Casey. Jacob was sad that he wasn't getting his haircut, and he told Rose that he was sad. Rose was very sweet and told him he could have a lollipop anyway. That went a long way towards helping Jacob enjoy Casey's haircut.

Casey was strapped into Rose's chair and was draped with the cape and then sprayed with some misting spray. She wore much the same expression throughout the haircut, which was one of pensive apprehension. But she didn't cry or squirm. In picture #3 you can see that Rose had a good rapport with her, and that Jacob was enjoying the Sesame Street TV program more than Casey.

Towards the end Casey started to try and get up, but the whole thing was almost done. Rose put a little pony tail in her hair and topped it off with a clip. The hair was darling and Casey finally started to smile again when it was all over.

Good job Casey! And good job Rose! We're glad to have you for our childrens' hair stylist again after our year away.

Jacob and Casey Unwind in their New Home

Casey has been trying to put her clothes on for a few weeks. Sometimes she succeeds---but in this picture she didn't quite make it and then she started clowning around. Jacob wanted to be like Casey, so he started to take his shirt off. Later that night we had a dinner of Nana's famous shrimp cakes, corn, green beans, and rice. We had dinner on our new (used) table which we bought in Nashville and trucked back to Pittsburgh. It was our last dinner with Nancy and we all had a lovely time!

Casey Helps Us Unpack

On our first morning in our new house I heard a strange sound in the bathroom. When I got there Casey had climbed, all by herself, into the sink. I think she climbed from the toilet but I really have no idea. Jacob's Sponge Bob stool isn't tall enough to launch her. By the time I got the camera Jacob had joined her in the sink. Later that day I caught Casey standing on a pile of boxes, looking out the window at our new (very busy) street. She also grabbed a screw driver and did her best to help us put together Daddy's desk. Thanks Casey!

BIG NEWS: JACOB LOSES FIRST BABY TOOTH!

Well, when Jacob told us that one of his bottom teeth was starting to wobble we didn't believe him. But then when it fell out when he was brushing his teeth we had to admit: Jacob is all grown up! The tooth fairy came and brought Jacob some money to get his favorite ice cream bar from the ice cream truck! I feel a little bit sad that my first born has lost his first baby tooth, but I'm also proud of what a big boy he is!
