June 15th: Casey Uses her Potty for First Time!

Casey, as many of you know, loves to run around naked. You would think this would give us a lot of opportunities to sneak a potty under her butt when she starts to pee on the floor. But lately she's been foiling our best efforts, and we've had some big puddles to clean up.

This morning, however, as we were all getting ready to take Casey and Jacob to school, Jacob pushed Casey's potty towards her. They were both in the kitchen. Jacob said, "Hey Casey, do you want to sit on your potty?" Casey replied, "yeah." She sat down, and for the first time since she got her potty for Christmas, she peed in it! We all celebrated, and Jacob and Casey both got a lolipop as a reward!

These cute pictures of Casey wearing Jacob's underwear were taken in Alabama, but they seemed appropriate to pair with this post!

Jacob's last day at Pre 2 Gymkhana Class

We all got to cheer Jacob on at his last Gymkhana class in June. Casey may have been one of the most enthusiastic participants of the day, since it was one of her only times in the "big room" at Gymkhana, where she's been dying to play for months. Jacob showed off a lot of impressive skills. He can flip around this bar, walk on the balance beam, do somersaults and leaps on the trampoline, and stretch and move with ease.

Chilly May trip to the Beechwood Nature Reserve

In mid-May we took a trip to the Beechwood nature reserve with our good friends, D, E and A. The reserve had a nicely graded (not too steep) one mile loop and a cool pond where we stopped to harass turtles and frogs. We saw an island in the pond with these big eggs on it (turtle eggs?) and this turtle on the rock looked so shiny that many of us thought it was a statue! When Dan ran around the pond to scare it, we discovered it was indeed real!

One of the big thrills of our trip to the nature reserve was the pond full of tadpoles and frogs. We didn't notice just how many frogs there were until another family showed up with a net to catch frogs in. Josh and Jacob nabbed one. But the lucky fellow was set free and plopped back into the drink. It was a chilly morning, as you can see from Jacob and Casey's attire, but it was a beautiful, nature filled hike!

More pics from Alabama

May, like a lot of the spring in Alabama, was pretty rainy. But you can see that this didn't stop the Gregsons and the kids from having fun: swimming, playing outside, and just clowning around. They even managed to get a fire started in the damp yard a few times.

Still more pics from Alabama

Josh likes to snap pictures at meal time. While sometimes there is some food between the teeth in the photos, he gets a lot of great pics by having a captive audience. I love seeing this high chair, too. We got it for Jacob when he was a baby and it still fits our family! Thanks again to Grandma and Papa for taking such good care of our bugs in Alabama in May!
