Jacob at the Zoo

On President's Day Jacob's daycare was closed for the new parent open house. So Jacob and I (Kathy) went to the zoo. It was very cold! So we strolled as fast as we could to the warm elephant house, where we saw six elephants, including two young elephants. It was stinky! Then we went to the monkey house, where it was nice and warm. We saw baboons and orangatans, and this ugly fellow, who came right up to the window to greet all the children. Then we went to the aquarium where Jacob crawled through the sting ray tunnel and looked at the sea horse. At one point Jacob ran away from me, up the ramp to the upper part of the aquarium. When I found him I told him that he had scared me. We've been talking about it ever since. Jacob says "scared, mama."

More misc. pictures of Mr. Cutie Cutes

I'm going out of town for a few days so I thought I would post a few more pictures. This is a mishmash of things, including another picture from the plane flight, the tent, and the bath.

Lately Jacob has added some amusing new words to his vocabulary. He calls dinosaurs "orasans". He likes to pick up garbage off the floor and go into the kitchen and throw it away in the large garbage can. He likes to hear the "ABC" song, and he can count to three. He can even count to twelve with a little help. We often see him pointing at things and saying to himself "one, two, fwee..." Yesterday when I came to pick him up from daycare the kids were playing dress up. Jacob was wearing a long black velvet glove. He came running over to me saying "glove, glove". Then he wanted me to take it off. This week he has had lunch time visits from his dad (twice) and from Jessica (once).

jACoB's ABCs

I have not taken any new pictures for a few days, so I'm going to post some of the pages I made from the "ABC" book that I made for Jacob's birthday. I'm very happy with the way this turned out. Jacob is not as interested in it as I hoped he would be, but it's a nice photo album for us!

Bathtime

Jacob took a long bath tonight, as he often does. He loves his new train cars (which he calls just "cars") that he got from the Gigers. It's one of his favorite new toys. He also likes playing with the jumbo legos. He dips them into the bath water and drinks out of them (yuck!). He like to unplug the drain and watch the water go down. He says "down, down" as it drains. He gets a lot of great baths with the help of Aunt Jessica and Boette. They all chant together: Bathtime! Bathtime!

Jacob's Steeler Mania

Hopefully Jacob's Seattle grandparents won't be too angry when they see these great pictures of Jacob and Josh in their Steeler gear. The game on Sunday night really seemed to turn around when Greg Crowley suggested that we wave our yellow napkins in the air as if they were terrible towels. We feel Seattle's pain, but we love that we're the champions. No sour grapes Seattle!

Jacob's Birthday Suit

I scavenged some photos today from the Cyert Center. These were taken on Jacob's actual birthday, last week, on January 24th. We sang happy birthday to Jacob, and we told the story of the "Five Brown Buns." We also gave the Young Toddlers a copy of Caps for Sale, which is one of Jacob's favorite books. When we read it, some of the older kids, like Nicholas and Jack, really got into saying "You monkeys you...you give me back my caps!" Jacob was so excited that he ran back and forth between Jessica, Mom and Dad.
